Understanding the Clearbit Status system trait

Last Updated: December 21, 2023

🔍 Please note: This article is for customers on Standard Bundle, Enrichment, or Clearbit Platform plans. If you signed up in 2024, you are on a Sales Intelligence for HubSpot plan: Free, Growth, or Business.

We're excited to introduce the new "Clearbit Status" system trait feature in our platform enrichment integrations. This status code is designed to help you create a more effective workflow by providing a clear outcome of Clearbit's attempt to find enrichment data that matches your field mappings.

What is Clearbit Status?

The Clearbit Status system trait is a critical component of our platform enrichment integrations. It provides real-time insights into the status of the data enrichment process, effectively acting as a workflow trigger in Salesforce, HubSpot, or Marketo.

How Clearbit Status works

Clearbit Status provides you with a status code that reflects the results of the data enrichment process:

  • 200 Status: This status code indicates that Clearbit has successfully found enrichment data corresponding to your field mappings.
  • 206 Status: This code signals that while Clearbit found enrichment data, it does not match your current field mappings. This could be due to changes in your field mappings or data that doesn't align with the specified mappings.
  • 404 Status: This status indicates that Clearbit was unable to locate any enrichment data to match against your field mappings. Reasons could include the record being too new or lacking the necessary information for enrichment.

The value of Clearbit Status

Clearbit Status provides a strategic advantage in managing your workflows. By utilizing this status code as a workflow trigger in Salesforce, HubSpot, or Marketo, you can streamline your operations and automate specific actions.

For instance, a 200 status can indicate the process is working as planned. A 206 status, however, could trigger a review and adjustment of your field mappings. In cases of a 404 status, your workflow could pause until the necessary enrichment data becomes available.

Getting Started with Clearbit Status

Activating Clearbit Status is simple. You can find this new feature in all our platform enrichment integrations.

  1. Head to the Clearbit Platform and navigate to the Enrichment tab
  2. Select the CRM/MAP you are using
  3. In the Field Mapping section, select "Add field mapping"
  4. Search for "Clearbit Status" or find it under the "System Traits" section
  5. Select or create a corresponding field in your CRM/MAP. We recommend using a Text field type
  6. Click save

Once turned on, Clearbit will automatically start providing status updates, enabling any workflow triggers you've created for your CRM or marketing automation platforms.

With the new Clearbit Status system trait, we're giving you another tool to enhance efficiency and control in your data enrichment workflows. If you have further questions about Clearbit Status or need help with the setup, don't hesitate to get in touch with our support team.

We hope this new feature empowers you to make more informed decisions and better manage your workflows.
