To access the visitor report:

  • Click here to navigate to the visitor’s report.
  • In your Clearbit account, click Visitors in the left sidebar.

If you've set up the visitor report correctly but are not seeing companies getting identified in your account, please review the following common errors and troubleshooting steps below before reaching out to support@clearbit.com.

Visitor report cannot be accessed

The most current version of the visitor report no longer produces publicly accessible reports. To access the visitor report, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be a Clearbit user
  • Be a user of the Clearbit account that set up the visitor report

For example,  if Jane Smith from HubSpot set up the visitor report for hubspot.com, and John Doe from HubSpot wants to access those reports, Jane will need to add John as a user to her Clearbit account. Learn more managing visitor report access.

Visitor report cannot be found

If you are logged in but can’t find your visitor report, you may be logged into the wrong Clearbit account. To verify if you are logged into the correct Clearbit account:

  1. Log into Clearbit.
  2. In the bottom left, click on the account picker. to confirm if you're a user of more than one account.

  3. Select the account that is associated with your visitor reports
  4. In the left sidebar, click Integrations
  5. In the Clearbit Javascript section, click Connect.

  6. In the Use Javascript snippet tab, click Test integration. If you get a Receiving data confirmation, this means you're in the right account. If not, then it's likely you're in the wrong account. Repeat steps 2 - 6 to find the correct account.

The incorrect script was installed or the script is not detected

Every Clearbit account is associated with a unique script. Access to this script will be given during your Clearbit account onboarding.

Alternatively, you can also access your script at any time by clicking Integrations within your free Clearbit account.

  1. Log into Clearbit.
  2. In the left sidebar, click Integrations in the sidebar.
  3. In the right panel, in the Clearbit Javascript section, click Connect.

  1. In the Use Javascript snippet tab, your script should look like the sample script below. Copy this script paste directly above the closing head tag in your HTML file:

    <script src="https://tag.clearbitscripts.com/v1/pk_xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx/tags.js" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin"></script>

  2. After adding the script, at the bottom, click Test integration. If you get a Receiving data confirmation, this means you're in the right account.

The placement of the script is important, to ensure that it's not interfering with any other script you may have on your website. You can also install the script via Google Tag Manager or WordPress. Learn how to install the script via GTM or WordPress.

The Google Tag Manager (GTM) is not correctly implemented

Some common issues we see when using GTM to install the script include:

  • Using the incorrect quotation marks versus the correct " quotation marks when adding your script.
  • The full script was not added into the Custom HTML Tag.
  • There is a delay when  GTM is deploying. This usually takes a few minutes.
  • After adding the Clearbit tag, the update is not successfully published.
  • The Clearbit tag was added and published to the wrong website
  • GTM  is not properly implemented on the website.
  • There is conflict with GTM by the website builder or custom code.
  • Including referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" in your script. This part of our script is only for direct installation, not GTM.

To ensure proper implementation, create a pageview trigger or confirm that one is already set up:

  1. In your Google account, open Tag Manager and choose your website’s Container
  2. In the left panel, click Triggers.
  3. Confirm if there is a trigger where Event Type is Page View.
  4. If there is no Page View trigger:
    1. In the top right, click New.
    2. Click the Trigger Configuration dropdown menu and select Page View.
    3. Enter a name for your trigger, then click Save.
    4. In your Clearbit account, copy your the JavaScript code for your Clearbit tag. Learn how to find your script.
    5. In your Google account, paste the code in your new tag.
    6. Select a Page View trigger.
    7. Click Publish. You may need to add a version name and summary of your changes, for example, you can use Add Clearbit Visitor Report script.
  5. Confirm that the Clearbit script is successfully detected.
